Yes, yes, I know it has been a very long time since my last post. I am so sorry to all those that I give such a hard time too when they don't update. Life post Miami has been wonderful!!! But it has also been very busy and thus my lack of updates. Things seem to be calming down a bit around the Tom household and settling back into a nice pace. Here are a few things that have kept us busy the past few weeks.
1. Twig & Berries
Yes, it's true the new little one inside me has a penis. We couldn't be more thrilled! Curtis has absolutely no idea what is transpiring but does know where "Henry" is located on mommy. Whenever we ask him where Henry is he comes up to my belly and either hugs my tummy or head butts it. Were working on getting out our feelings early before his brother arrives in October.
2. Nicole Sauter's 1 year Birthday
My cousin Rebekah's little girl celebrated her first birthday. She thoroughly enjoyed her cake and had many friends to celebrate with. The night was very hard for all of us there. It's just not the same without my cousin there to celebrate her baby girls birthday. Rebekah's closest friends came with their kids to celebrate the night and it was very meaningful for everyone. We got a picture of all the rug rats at the party which was no easy task. All in all it was hard but really good to be with family.
3.Enjoying the Sun
The first month being home from Miami the weather has been a bit shady. I actually really don't mind because after living in the humidity for so long I gladly welcomed the cold. But every know and then there were some nice days that we took advantage of. We section off our driveway and let Curtis go wild all over the yard as we relax in our lawn chairs under our beautiful Dogwood tree. Curtis loves racing dad down the driveway with his trucks. Already at 16 months he is highly competitive and he loves cutting Tony off halfway to the finish line. Tony usually ends up stubbing his toe or something to that nature and then telling me that he isn't racing with Curtis anymore. But within the next minute Curtis has drug the trucks back to the starting line and then begs his daddy to do it again by whining relentlessly, until finally tony can't say no to his cute little chubby face and they do it all over again.
Curtis loves the chalk!! He can't really draw anything yet but he loves to hold it, eat it, and draw on himself. My sister Nikki has moved back home from Reno and is staying with us through the summer. It has been wonderful having her here. Curtis absolutely adores her and she is such a huge help to me. It is also nice just having her near after living so far away for 3 years.
Curtis swinging with his auntie Carissa visiting from Seattle. We had an awesome day together and Curtis loved swinging with her.
One of many boo boo's that Curtis has managed to give himself recently. He nosedived into some blacktop the other day which left him with a nice raspberry chin. And of course Curt's famous serious face.
Curtis is never one for good bye's.
4. Anna's Graduation
My baby sister Anna graduated from high school. She finished off her senior year with a spectacular finish, she finished strong. A couple of her many achievements this year was her first place finish at state in speech and then quaterfinaling at speech nationals this year placing her 21st in the nation. She was also very involved with the National Honor Society and was senior class president. I'm very proud of my sister in all she has accomplished. She is a beautiful lady inside and out and I know that she will do well as she heads into this next part of life. She is attending Seattle Pacific University in the fall and plans to major in nursing. Go get 'em Liv!
5. Randomness
So those of you that have kids I'm sure you have heard of an article of clothing for kids known as babylegs. You used to only be able to get them online and at baby boutiques but now target has started carrying the line as well. Anyway, when Curtis first started learning how to crawl I got him 3 pairs of baby legs to help minimize the discomfort of crawling on marble floors (miami). Tony would tease me non-stop and tell me that i better not take Curtis out in public with those "leg warmers" on. But I did. And people loved them. And Curtis loves them. Moral of the story, I'm secure, Curtis is secure and babylegs are here to stay at the Tom household. Watch out Tony, Henry is next!!!
These are Curtis's favorite, the Cow legs.
6. The Gummy Bear Song
One day when Nikki was babysitting Curtis she came across this video on Youtube. It's called the Gummy Bear song and it is sung in every language. It has this catchy little techno beat that drives Curtis crazy. Curtis doesn't watch t.v. so when he first saw this video it was like he was on crack...he literally went crazy dancing and dancing and dancing. Well its become quite the obsession with him, as soon as we say gummy bear he runs over to my computer. Here is just a little sample of his dancing, and this is actually really tame compared to his normal antics.

Dang...fun going on in the Tom house! See, of course I want to meet Curtis - ASAP. Let me know how you want to meet up.
Love all the udpates.
First off, it's such a lie that Curtis doesn't watch TV. I think you guys like to beleive that when you have the TV on in the house and tell Curtis "Don't watch." that he actually understands and obeys you. But hey, I'll let you have your little world for a while longer.
Good to see the pics and hear about the fam. I love you!
Wow, so I have never heard of baby legs. Fabulous idea. If we have another (although unlikely! =) I will remember the brand...
Thanks for the vulnerability in sharing Nicole's birthday. Puts my own woes in perspective, for sure.
And sounds like your sis got a heavy dose of your genetics =) Go her.
Love ya girl.
love it, love it, love it. favorites: cow legs and dancing.
