So my son's a genius...and I'm furious, well sort of. Lately, when i have asked Curtis to bring something to me that he is not supposed to have or to put something down, he has taken to shrugging his head "no" and smiling at me while going about what he was doing. Not cool, and not acceptable. He never does it in an angry or malicious way, he just thinks it's a game and most of the time he is either cracking up or smiling. And he doesn't say "no" he just shrugs his head with the gesture. I have wondered whether he knows what I am talking about yet and so i have held back on any disciplinary measures when he has chosen this defiance. But now I'm pretty sure...he knows and something must be done.
So yesterday i thought i might implement the "count to three" and if he doesn't comply then there will be some consequences. Well sure enough it didn't take to long after he had woken up to find something of mommy's that he wasn't supposed to have when i asked him to bring it to me. And right on cue he nodded his head "no" with a big grin on his face daring me to ask again. So here goes, "Curtis, please bring that to mommy, 1....." and with a look of absolute joy Curtis finished for me. "2....3...." and walked off with whatever he had in his little grubby hand leaving me standing there dumbfounded with three thoughts. 1.)I can't believe he has been paying attention when we practice our numbers 2.) He's genius 3.) That little #$*&.
