A First for Curtis & Auntie Carie...The Zoo

On Thursday we went up to the Oregon Metro Zoo for a day full of animals and fun. This trip was Curtis's first along with his auntie Carmen's who was visiting us for the week from Seattle. I have the fondest memories from my childhood at this zoo and I want my son to start making some of his own here. For the past couple weeks Curtis has been obsessed with the book, Polar Bear Polar Bear What do you Hear? by Bill Martin. And sure enough the first animal that we came upon were the polar bears. I think Curtis had a meltdown of shear joy! The look on my sons face was one that stories are made of, his eyes danced with delight. And he said "bear" for the first time right in front of them, it was an awesome moment for me as a mom. We were only there for a few hours but Curtis loved it and loved it and so we headed back out to the front and got ourselves an annual pass. Let the zoo memories begin!

I can just imagine your delight when you heard and watched Curtis say "bear" for the first time. Awesome in the truest sense of the word!

Good choice on the annual pass- sure it will pay off very quickly. The zoo is absolutely amazing, especially Africa! And how proud you should be to hear him say bear! Thanks for the listening ear tonight :)
